Professional Expertise
Bruce Wood is a Principal and Director at Kallmann McKinnell & Wood Architects and has acted as a senior designer since joining the firm in 1985. Born in Toronto, Canada, he studied landscape architecture at the University of Guelph, Ontario, where he received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree with distinction and won the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects award for excellence.

In 1975, he joined Johnson Sustrouk Weinstein & Associates – Landscape Architects, Civil Engineers and Planners, in Toronto, Ontario, and became Senior Landscape Architect in 1978. In 1980, he entered the Master of Architecture program at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, graduating in 1983 with a Master of Architecture with distinction, and a Master of Landscape Architecture. He rejoined Johnson Sustrouk & Weinstein in 1983 as partner in charge of Landscape Architecture and in 1984 joined the project team in Paris for the New Opera de la Bastille, lead by Carlos Ott and Saubot-Julien Architects as project designer for the theater and public space.

He has served as a design juror at the BAC, MIT, and at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Currently he is acting as a design peer reviewer for the Design Excellence Program of the General Services Administration, and as a member of the Boston Society of Architects Ethics Committee. He became a principal of the firm in 1994 and a director in 1995.
